Ice Age 4: Continental Drift

Here’s what I can tell you: Ice Age is a hit in my house.

Over the course of the last year I’ve watched installments 1-3 of the series in hotel rooms, cars  and airports around the world.

Sid the Sloth, Manny the Mammoth and Diego the Sabretooth Tiger have almost been as much a part of this trip as my boys.

And so when offered the chance to preview the latest installment of the franchise, we they gladly accepted.

The gang’s back together and fighting pirates on the high seas

The movie which opens in theatres todaytakes our heros on their latest adventure and what ensues is more of the same hilarity and hijinx we’ve come to expect from these three. There are  some new characters along for the ride as well. Wanda Sykes is on board as my favourite character in the new installment (“Granny”) and  hip hop icons Drake and Nicki Minaj lend their voices in less impressive roles as well. While the flavour of the previous films remain and I appreciated the “family sticks together” bottom line, it wasn’t my favourite of the 4.

But as any parent will tell you: That’s not what matters. What matters is what the kids think. Here’s their take:

See what I mean? “5 stars!” :) But don’t take their word for it, see it for yourself when it opens in theatres today.

HI Heather, We saw it this week here in Durban, South Africa and loved it too – the 9 year old, the 2  14 year olds, the almost-40-year old and the 67-year old.  Can’t believe the imagination of the people who come up with those story lines!
