March Break Travel: Where to go and what to do - GlobetrottingMama.com

March break (or “spring break” for the Americans among us) is one of the school breaks I love the most. It hits right at that time when we are all itching for a break from the routines and it’s a signal that summer might actually be coming back after all. If you’ve been counting the days until your chance to get away, these destinations offer up a little something to help.

Viamede Resort, Woodview, Ontario

We spent a couple of glorious days out at Viamede this winter and loved it. With its grand fireplace and cozy cottages it has all the features of a great winter hiking getaway. This March Break package features something for everyone: plenty of kid’s activities including pool volleyball, swimming and crafts, as well as time for just the adults while kids are entertained with a pizza party (cost extra).

Viamede is located on Stoney Lake near Peterborough.

Perhaps the ultimate in getaways, this luxurious resort has been a popular family getaway for a long, long time.

You can enjoy the waterpark, play a round of golf or hang out in the spa. The kids can help feed sea animals, create their own stuffed animal … and did we mention the waterpark? It’s a playground for people of all ages.

The Home Ranch, Colorado, USA

If sun and sand are not your thing at this time of the year, head for the snow instead. Colorado has plenty of it, alongside the winter activities that help you celebrate the cold. This resort offers shuttles to Steamboat for family skiing, as well as  cooking classes, sleigh rides and relaxing afternoons by the fire.
