Roller Coasters at Universal Orlando – Globetrotting Kids

Hi, Cameron D here

Today, I am going to talk about my wonderful time at Universal studios. It was epic. There are so many fun things to do like  ROLLER COASTERS.  First let me start at the beginning of that story.

One day there was very cold weather at home. My wonderful mom wanted to leave and go to warm hot Florida and we all agreed we wanted to be warm.

So we  left the cold car and went inside the airport. In the airport there was heat and rocking chairs and we loved it. Then it was our turn to board. It was fun. Eventually we made it to Florida. At Universal Studios in Orlando I rode 5  magnificent roller coasters. I will tell you about a few of them.

  1. Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts:

Gringotts bank is supposed to be the safest place in the world. On this Harry Potter ride we wore safety goggles which were actually 3D glasses. They made the ride more exciting. You ride in a mine cart through the bank’s vaults. There is a connection between the adventures in the movie and the ride.  For example: When Hermione says a spell, it makes a chain attach to the mine cart and lifts you up out of the dungeon. Tip: Watch the last two movies before you go on this ride.

Outside the ride don’t forget to look up! The dragon sitting on top of the bank breathes real fire!

2. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

The second ride we went on was Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. I don’t know why it’s called that. Sometimes the line for this ride is very long but on the day we went it was only 45 minutes wait. Standing in line was fun because the line takes you past the “screaming mandrakes” and into Hogwarts. Inside Hogwarts there are rooms and paintings that move and talk to you saying things like “ha ha ha ha ha ha ha muggles are here” and the sorting hat speaks to you telling you what to do and how to do it.

In the ride you see “you know who” (Voldemort) and also his assistant. Harry Potter is on his broom in front of you and you follow him to play Quidditch.

They changed a lot of stuff like a dragon… wait… no, I will not spoil it for you guys but lots of other fun things

3. Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster

The Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster was one of my favorites because of the speed. It goes up in these hoops and you get to choose the music that you listen to on the ride. When you’re almost done choosing your music, you blast off like a sound wave.   It was so fast that I had to choose in the middle of that ride. Tip: Never sit in the front unless you really like speed.

When I came off the roller coaster my heart was pounding!

4.  The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster

This roller coaster was so devious because you start off super slow and then “oops,” says Banner. “I forgot about the thrust!” And then

BOOM you get shot by the speed. It is like the Rip Ride Rockit coaster but way faster and with more loops.

There are lots of other roller coasters and other rides and games there too . (The Dragon Challenge was fun.). Well, that’s what I have to say about these wonderful roller coasters at Universal. You should take your family like I did. See you later!

The Escape from Gringotts is new since I was at Universal in 2012. I got motion sickness on the Forbidden Journey. It. Was. HORRIBLE! Is the Escape from Gringotts ride as bad for motion sickness?

Hey K from MN,
I’m not a huge roller coaster fan and althought I liked Fobidden Journey best, I can totally see the motion sickness possibility. I think you’ll find Escape from Gringotts is faster but less “high-flying” if that makes sense.
