It’s no secret that given a choice, I’ll choose sun over snow every time. This time of year can be particularly tough for those of us who use cold temperatures and mounting snow as an excuse to stay comfortably tucked away inside our homes. Add in the dark day blues and the idea only seems that much more enticing. The other option? Run away. It’s the perfect time to escape to the sun and sand. We’re just back from Florida ourselves so we couldn’t resist focusing on sunny vacations in this edition of our deals round-up.

Adventures in the snow at Ontario Parks

From February 19th-21st 2011 stargazing kicks off  Winter Activity Days at Killarney Provincial Park. The event begins indoors near the park at the Killarney Bay Inn where astronomer Bruce Waters will project a star map on the ceiling and give tips on how to read the stars. Families can also enjoy other activities like cross-country skiing, hosted by Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from 5pm-9pm on February 19th.Rental equipment is available on a first come first serve basis, rental is $5. A Candlelight skating path is available for families at the Macgregor Provincial Park on February 20th and Igloo building from February 19th-20th at Quetico Provincial Park.
