I should’ve wrote this post weeks ago. There are a million reasons why I didn’t. I’m a busy girl: Kids are underfoot, deadlines are looming and of course the holidays are right there around that corner .

I know it’s probably the same scenario at your house.

But this is worth the interruption.

In India there are dozens of families waiting for homes that we can help them build and all we have to do is take 10 minutes out of our crazy, lucky, blessed lives to do it.

For the third year in a row travel bloggers are uniting in an effort to raise money for those in the world who need it most.  The initiative is called Passports with Purpose (PWP) and  I’m honoured to be a part of the Best Family Travel Advice family which  includes two of the founders of this amazing initiative.

Last year they built a school in Cambodia

This year’s project is even bigger and being carried out in collaboration with Friends of Lafti – an organization that for more than 50 years has been helping India’s poor have a shot at a better life. For about $2000 U.S. Lafti is able to purchse a home in India, hand land title to the woman of the household and give a family a leg up instead of a hand out.

leg up instead of hand out

Donations offer a leg up instead of a handout

The goal for PWP? 25 homes and the creation of a Passports Village in Karunganni, located in the state of Tamil Nadu in southeastern India.

We can help.

It’s simple. For as little as a $10 donation you contribute to changing a family’s life and get a chance to win some fabulous prizes.

Among them: A fabulous Best Family Travel Advice prize of  A 5-night stay at any of the nine Paradise by Marriott resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico!. (Big thanks and kudos to Mariott Hotels for the donation)The value? $1645 U.S.

So you get a shot at  Cancun, Aruba, Grand Cayman or one of the other fabulous destinations for every $10 donation. And there are dozens of other prizes as well including flights, clothing, gift certificates and more. Every $10 donation you make is another chance to win.

And while the prizes are incredible there is an even bigger reason to act.

In only 10 minutes you can make the difference in where a child sleeps a year from now.

In the time it takes you to click and type, you could actually save a life.

And what would it say about us if we couldn’t make time for that?

Please join me in supporting this worthy cause and let me know you did with a comment below so I can thank you personally.
