Last year at this time the family and I were together exploring Africa hitting the six month mark of our around the world trip. As the holidays drew to a close, I found the only thing I’d missed was my extended family back home in Toronto.
The single most convincing argument someone has given me for why they don’t travel more is that they’d have to leave family behind. I get that. Aging parents, new nieces or even children who need local support for special needs can make even a short getaway a luxury.
The good news is that staying in touch doesn’t have to be hard.
This year Motorola is offering one lucky Globetrotting Mama reader the chance to win a MOTOROLA DEFY™ PRO (MSRP: $249.00).
As someone who is rough with her phone – drop, bang, crack, you name it – I’m intrigued by the claims that it is built “to last any travel or adventure you have planned.”
The winner will have to tell me all about it.
Here are the details on the phone:
Android-powered with a full QWERTY keyboard
high capacity battery with Motorola’s Battery Manager,
certified for resistance against scratches, spills and dust with its flawless chrome finish and 2.7-inch Corning® Gorilla® Glass display.
And here’s how to win:
Leave me a comment below before January 8, 2013 telling me where you’d like to take your Motorola phone if you won. One comment per person and open to Canadian addresses only. Want a second shot? Like Globetrotting Mama on Facebook. Winner will be chosen by random.
Love to travel to London with the Motorola Defy Pro in 2013!
I’d love to travel to Estonia with my phone! I’m going on a bike trip in June with my Mom and sister, but am not going with my kids or husband so would love to keep in touch with them then!

I would love to travel to Spain!
Tough call but I would have to say Thailand
I want to be all exotic and post some far off land, however I am going to say, I’ll take it to our Capital, Ottawa, where I go every Canada Day, if can make it through all the crowds there..it can stand up to anything :) :) Happy New Year Heather, Ish, Cameron and Ethan!!
Oh if I was so lucky to win….. I would be taking it on the train to Ottawa to visit my son with a stop in Toronto to visit my other son then on to Belleville where my fabulous 3 grandchildren and daughter live. So this would be a traveled cell phone. Not as well traveled as yours has been….but my type of travelling. All of my family would be so thrilled as I may be the last Canadian to not have a cell phone.
I would be taking my four kids (and the husband) off to Barbados for the Run Barbados 5K race! I’m a new runner and trying to set a good fitness example for my family. I know they would love it, I mean, what’s not to love about Barbados? Coo coo and flying fish anyone? LOL!
Where would I not take the phone would be the question. I would take it everywhere with me on vacations to warm places , all over Canada and just where ever I venture off to !!!!!!!!!!
I would be dropping this into the pocket of my husband who would be taking this to construction job sites…okay, not as exciting as some of the other choices – but really rough environment for the phone! (His current phone is pretty much dead, and only 2 years old…) Oh, if I had my option, I would be taking the phone to Rome (along with my hubby). We honeymooned there in 2010 and I so want to go back there!!!! Thanks for a great giveaway!
I would take it to the 14,000 foot summit of Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Let’s see if it can withstand freezing temperatures, high altitude and me juggling it with my camera also in hand!
I would take my Motorola to Paris France. My dream vacation.
Easy: I would take my new phone to play a kicking playlist on a 10k run in Bermuda!
I would take it on my #1 bucket list trip… down the Amazon!
I would take it on my annual birthday trip to Las Vegas!!!
We’re going to Brazil in December. I’ll definitely need it there.
I would love to travel to Aruba
I would take it with me to florida and test it out on our adevntures: alligator watching on the air boats, beach visits, shopping with 2 kids, the zoo!!
Love to go to Maui with the Motorolo Defy Pro!
I would love to take the new phone to Australia next summer…
I would love to take my Motorola phone to Curaçao.
I would like to take my Motorola on a trip to the Bahamas.
I would take my new phone everywhere with me as I am new to Ontario & I get lost easily so I need to a always check Mapquest or some such tool to show me where & how to get to some place quickly. I really could have uses it driving here from BC. I deserve to win this cell phone.
I would take it with me to Trinidad for Carnival!! Taking great pics with family and the gorgeous costumes and then sharing them online would be what I’d do!
If I could travel anywhere right now it would be to be on a beach in Bahamas!!
Somewhere warm like Hawaii or Maui would be awesome!
