Looking out over Machu Picchu in Peru

This picture is one of my all-time favourites. In it the boys, then 4 and 7, had sought out their own private perch from which to take in the ruins of Machu Picchu.  After determining that there was indeed another ledge right below their feet (phew!) I stepped back to snap this shot. They sat there for a long time, these two boys who were ALWAYS on the go and they chatted like old men. It still makes me smile.

Facing our Fears| #GlobeTrotWed: Peru

I wrote about our trip to Peru and our many fears about taking the trip with them in April 2010 in Canadian Family magazine.

Canadian Family Magazine, April 2010

It was our first big international trip with the boys and served as a tester for the big around the world trip we had been planning in our minds. They passed the test with flying colours and Ish and I were completely sold on the idea of traveling with them long term. A big part of our confidence came from this moment: When two little kids walked over to what felt like the edge of the world, sat down and took it all in.

Your turn: What are you dreaming about on this #GlobeTrotWed? Do your travel dreams include #Peru?
