When we returned from our yearlong trip around the world in 2012, our family was honoured to be one of the inaugural recipients of the National Geographic Traveler Magazine Travelers of the Year award.

We set out on the trip in the hopes of spending time together, to be recognized for following our passion in that way was huge.

Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing our travel stories on their Intelligent Travel site, online at NationalGeographic.com and in the pages of the incredible magazine.

Then, this summer, a new honour: I’ve been named a Contributing Editor to the magazine. The new role will offer me more opportunities to share travel insights alongside a team of people committed to getting you out to see this incredible planet we live on.

What does that mean for GlobetrottingMama.com? Nothing changes. I’ll still continue to share stories here and in newspapers, magazines and television programs around the world. The new role is an “addition” to the work I already do, not a replacement.

Hope you’ll continue to follow along, especially in these turbulent times, as I continue to share stories that show the good in the world. And don’t be shy! If there are places you’d like to know more about, or stories you want to share. We are all ears.

In the meantime, in honour of the new role, here are a few of the pieces I’ve loved writing for National Geographic Travel.
