Is my child ready to fly on his or her own? The answer to this is one only a parent truly knows. But if you think your child might be ready to fly to another family member, be sure to check the regulations specific to your air carrier. Most allow children between the ages of 5 and 14 to fly alone domestically.

There are many things you can do to get your child ready and confident to fly on their own. Be prepared to face some of your child’s anxiety, and to soothe them by giving them information about what to expect, including what to do while in the air and off the plane, including where they will expect to leave you and where they can expect to see a family member when landed.
