If you think the best way to explore a new city is on two wheels, then read on. This one’s for the bike lovers – the cyclists and the mountain bikers who like the wind in their hair and the view from up there. Here are some exciting biking vacations in North America for when you need two wheels on the road (or dirt path) and adventure at every turn.
Orlando, Florida
For an urban biking experience, take a trip to Orlando with your bike in tow, or rent on the ground. A popular path is the Urban Bike Trail, which winds its way through Orlando’s Loch Haven Park. There you can stop and meet “The Mayor.” No, not the person but a stately oak tree that has been around since the time the Constitution was signed. She’s witnessed it all! Make sure to get off your bike as you go. There are many nearby museums, including Orlando Museum of Art.
You will also find plenty to see and do along the West Orange Trail as you pass through the suburban and urban landmarks. Visit the Winter Garden for a craft brew and browse the stalls at the Plant Street Market.
Niagara, Ontario
The Niagara Region has some beautiful bike paths. Up for some thrilling mountain biking through parts of Short Hills Park or along the Niagara escarpment? Or would you rather a more leisurely cycle through the vineyards with stops along the way to sample wine from this rich community of growers. Vineyards line the escarpment from Beamsville through St. Catharines, and in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Go it alone, or take a tour.

Moab, Utah
Hailed by mountain bikers as one of the best biking trails in the United States, you can find Slickrock in Moab, Utah. You’ll ride over Navajo Sandstone with climbs and descents that challenge even the most experienced riders. It’s all worth it for one of the best views around: A panoramic view of the Colorado River and the La Sal Mountains. Ride at your experience level: Experts will love the10.5-mile long loop; those with less skill, who want to warm up or simply want the experience without the muscle exhaustion, can ride the practice loop – an easier 2.2 mile ride.
Whistler, British Columbia
Mountain Bikers from around the world descend on this city high up in the mountains on the west coast of Canada. It has some of the best trails in North America. Choose from a network of 97 trails: there is something for every skill level. Looking for an opportunity to test and master your skill? Head to the Whistler Bike Park: with 2 skill centers, a jump park and a drop off park. If cycling is your preference, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the village of Whistler on two wheels. Find out more: https://www.whistler.com/trails/bike/
