Hey! That’s me! :)

For more than 15 years I’ve been trying to convince you to show your family the world. Now, I’ll also be doing it from the pages of the Globe and Mail – Canada’s national newspaper!

I’m absolutely thrilled to add this new Family Travel column for the Globe and Mail Travel Section to the list of places you can be inspired. Travelling with my family, near and far, has changed my life – and theirs. I wish the same for all of you.

My goals for this column are simple:

  •  convince those of you thinking family travel can’t be enjoyable that it can be
  •  show you how worthwhile the investment can be in the well-being of everyone in your family
  •  share with you some of the mistakes we’ve made along the way in the hopes you can avoid them – or at least realize you aren’t the only one
  • Explain how – and why – you need to leave the little ones behind from time to time and travel solo/with friends/with a partner/ with your parents or with your extended family to retain your sanity and be a better parent and a happier you.

The column will run regularly in the Pursuits section of the paper.  As always, I’m all ears for what you want to read and where you want to go. Send me your suggestions, tips, personal stories and ideas by email [email protected], twitter, facebook or instagram.

I hope you’ll join me on this new adventure.
Long live family travel!
